The location of the project area, presents itself as an exciting opportunity to address the recent transformation of Bandirma with a scientifi c, aesthetic, and ecologically sensitive approach.
The envisioned main strategy of Eco Fields for the project site and Bandirma is to propose an active natural and ecological landscape that promotes the maximum utilization of geographical features, the employment of renewable resources, the maximization of ecological preservation, and the sensible distribution of urban, recreational, touristic, and educational activities.
Eco Fields formulates an innovative approach that tightly links decisions within various domains, including urban scale, ecological scale, and building scale. On the urban scale, it proposes methods of integration of the green network, vehicular network, cycling network, historical preservation – cultural heritage, watch towers, viewing platforms, and pedestrian links. Its ecological strategy links the hydrological analysis, soil analysis, and climate analysis through the proposal of a network of water channels connected with Watch Towers that simultaneously serve as rain collection and water storage systems, as well as catchment ponds.
The size of the site as well as its’ location have been instrumental for the development of the building’s location strategy. Overlooking on one side the city of Bandirma and the Sea of Marmara on the other and with a spanning of almost a kilometre, the site is ideal for the development of an urban approach where the different buildings can be located across the entire area while maintaining the captivating view from high grounds. In this respect, the Shopping Mall, 5 star hotel, and convention centre are located close to the main road network and city centre. Design Institute is in close proximity with the historical ruins, in accordance with their linked programmes. The 4 start hotel is envisioned as a boutique hotel of bungalows located on the more silent North-West corner of the site.
